Ion Shuttling:
Fast ion shuttling between different regions (eg processor and memory registers) of a trapped ion array without
loss of coherence constitutes one of the primary routes to QIP incorporating remote registers. Siegen have
developed single-channel fast FPGA controlled DAC prototype for fast ion shuttling:
- 50 MHz update rate demonstrated
- Scalable to 100 channels
- Each electrode will have DAC, each DAC own memory
- DAC array controlled by multiple FPGAs
- Motherboard / daughterboard approach to facilitate expansion
